Tom and Michelle met the day before Toast Martinborough at the annual barrel race where Tom was on the winning team!
A joint passion for growing, making and drinking wine started .
After a few years of working and traveling around the world, the pair located to Marlborough in 2019. Here, Tom’s new position at The Coterie, a small batch contract winemaking facility, served as the perfect platform for them to kick start their wine business.

In 2015 Michelle made the move from Ireland to New Zealand. A background in environmental and soil science gave her a foothold to a career in the wine industry.
Working with the land to produce great wine hooked her instantly. Over the past few years Michelle has worked in both viticulture and wine production. She now combines her experience in production and background in research at the Bragato Research Institute.
Tom graduated with a degree in Viticulture and Oenology from Lincoln University in 2011. Following which he worked 2 vintages at Church Road in Hawkes Bay, before heading to France and Australia.
In April 2015 Tom returned to New Zealand to take up the position of assistant winemaker at Dry River in Martinborough. Over the course of 3 years Tom learned the skills necessary to take a wine from the vineyard to the consumer.
Tom currently works as Assistant Winemaker at The Coterie.
